Some of you may know me from Cast Boolits, Guns&Game, Marlin Owners or Artful Bullet. I just found this forum looking for info on a Stevens 22-410 with Tenite stock I just bought off GunBroker. I also have a Savage 24C Camper's Companion in .22 LR over 20-ga. I am curious if anyone here had had success handloading their own cast slugs for the .410? I've been loading metallic .410 shotshells and buckshot for a while, but want to try casting slugs for the Stevens and for a Beretta .410 folding shotgun I also have. Accurate 42-146H is my design for a "Grande Diabolo" giant air rifle pellet for .410 smooth bores. You can buy Made in USA gang molds from Accurate instead of sending your money to Russia. This slug is a solid base, not hollow-base, to avoid problems with wads causing base distortion. I'll post a thread on loading the .410 metallics, as maybe what I have learned would help others. This isn't my first rodeo, and I am happy to try to help with questions on bullet casting, reloading, etc. as long as it doesn't stray too far outside my wheelhouse. Interesting. I wonder, though, about the advisability of using a .41" solid base slug in a "typical" Mdl 24. For example, the .410 barrel on mine (1957 vintage) mics/slugs .38" (at the muzzle). Unless the slug is very soft, something's gotta give.
Your thoughts?

Will cast of pure lead and size to fit choke. Initial testing will be in cylinder-bore garden gun used for the round ball test pictured.
