I'm glad to see there are forums out here for these guns!
I picked up what I think is a model 24 T, .222/12 gauge in camo about a year ago at a gun show for $300. It got brought along on a few camping trips but never shot until last weekend. When I went to sight in the rifle, much to my surprise the action popped open under recoil. I thought it may have been something I did, but it repeated on the next shot as well.
Anyone have a clue as what could be wrong? I've searched for this particular problem and have not seen anything online so I'm hoping someone here can help!
Thanks in advance!

Mine does that too. Scary. I had a gunsmith work on it but it has done it again. Any luck fixing this?

I had this happen on my .223/12G at the range one time. I put it down to not cleaning the case lube off my reloads properly, but it also could have been too much oil on the locking surfaces. Since I have paid attention to these areas it has not missed a beat, even when I loaded up some 70gn SP way too hot. On that occasion the break action and extraction was really stiff. This leads me to say IMO that hot loads probably aren't your problem. Give the locking action surfaces a good clean and leave them dry when you next try it out.
