Hello all! I admit, it has been some time since I have been here. I used to be relatively active here until about 2011? Anyways, I am back, and wondering what your thoughts are on shooting some steel through a savage 24 barrel. Does the choke really matter, or is it the strength of the steel of the barrel that counts the most? Thanks for pondering. Wishing you all good health and happiness. YKD

As I recall, when steel shot was first introduced, there were lots of warnings not to use it in barrels that were full-choked. Further, there were cautions that older firearms with softer steel barrels that would be subject to damage.
Now, that was so many years ago it was pre-internet. Were it me, I would probably follow the above advice. I would for sure not fire it in brazed-barrel 24's.
