Hi all from the UK As some of you may now getting a firearm in the UK is quite a long process so while I am waiting for the police to OK my application for a model 24 I have some queries that I hope you good people on this forum may be able to answer. Firstly the gun I am after has been proof marked twice at the Birmingham proofing house in the UK, once as a 20 gauge 22 LR and then again as a 16 gauge 22 LR. What was the gun when it left the factory a 20 gauge or a 16 gauge ? Secondly as a 16 gauge I've found parts listed online but very little else about 16 gauge model 24's. The only things I've found are that the factory did produce 16 gauge models but that is all, the information online is very limited there is plenty of info on 12/20 gauge models mainly on this and the old site but very little elsewhere. Plus has anybody got an email address for the historical dept at Savage so I can contact them to see what information I can get. Many thanks in advance. All the best for the season and HAPPY NEW YEAR To All John

I'm quite sure American-made DLs came in .410 and 20-gauge but not 16 gauge. I know the 16-gauge shotgun is more a UK thing in recent years compared with the U.S., which has pretty much abandoned the 16 in new guns in favor of the 20. I don't know whether the 24 was ever made in the UK; if so, maybe it did come in 16 gauge there. I'll be interested to hear what others have to say.
