Hi guys. I need info on how to mount a scope on a Savage / Valmet 2400 combo from the mid to early 70's. It is a 12ga / 308 Win.
I was told Sako rings and mounts work, but have no idea if it is true or not. Please any help would be great!

You would probably get a lot faster results if you would just contact mount & ring Mfgs like Weaver, Leupold, Burris, etc....

you can get the 2 pc weaver mount from Brownells part #'s 955-010-067AB and 955-010-065AB OR you could do what I did and modify a set of Leupold see thru rings with a little creative filing I can see the open sights like this BUT some peoples (who shall remain nameless) think this sets the scope too high

Sako rings will work on the 2400. You will notice at the rear (action) end of the dovetail there is a notch. The Sako rings are designed with a nub that fits in that notch on the rear of the scope. This keeps everything nice and tight.
You can also find Talley Sako mounts for their rings, Weaver etc.. No problems with variety.
