Hey guys, I am new here, and can not find any help searching around on how to get the main spring, and plunger back in place! I have my father in-laws 24 apart to fix a broken plunger, and I can not for the life of me figure out how to get the entire assembly back in place to put the pin thru the trigger. any help? or suggestions would be very helpful!!!

I've done it but really don't remember. I do remember it being a pain in the ass. I recall using leverage, brute force and lots of cursing.

I avoid taking out/replacing the mainspring whenever I can. As already noted, it's a PITA to get back in. I've found it almost impossible to do with two hands. It's somewhat easier (relatively speaking) if you can secure the receiver/frame in a padded vise and have both hands free to use (as cas notes) brute force to get the spring compressed enough to pop back into place. I've sometimes used medium-sized screwdriver blades, on in each hand, to help compress the spring and shove it into position. I once even tried to modify a Vise Grip jaws to try to compress the spring, with no success other than pretty much trashing the Vise Grip. It's a tricky task at best, although possible. Good luck to you.

Thanks guys! I have done a lot of work on other guns...but man this main spring is a beast, you could probably put that sucker under a one-ton truck! I will have a try again at getting it in this weekend.
