This is my Savage 24c series P, my favorite, most used gun. I wrote an article for Backwoodsman Magazine (May/June 2013 issue)about packable .22s that includes alot of good words about 24s. Also did a write up on my "survival sling" featured in this picture that has not yet been published. Contents of pouch attached to sling. -2'x6' section of emergency blanket, not so much for shelter, but for use as a heat reflector or poncho. -A small Bic lighter, with a thin piece of tape wrapped around the fuel button to keep it from being depressed while packed. -A small Gerber folding knife, a formidable lock blade for it's size and spartan design. -A small firesteel and striker. -Button compass, that has not been affected so far by being stored with metal objects. -Hand fishing kit, line on a section of dowel, several small hooks, weighted bobber and a tiny bag of Power Bait grubs, for when it seems impossible to find suitable bait. -Signal whistle -Signal mirror, good for first aid use too. -LED flashlight, very bright and sturdy for it's size. -Wire saw, excellent tool if it is strung onto a green stick like a bow. -2 large needles and a small length of tread. -3 .22lr tracers, to be used for signaling. The sling is half paracord(about 40ft) and has about 6ft of 100mph tape wrapped around the buckle between the paracord and padded portion. There is also a section of PEX pipe between the two 20ga rounds stored in the stock and reciever screw that contains waterproof stike anywhere matches in it. With my Four-tenner in it, it is just about perfect for close range rabbit hunting. Overall ammo loadout is seven 20ga rounds(5 birdshot, 1 slug and 1 buckshot) and 18 .22LR(signal tracers included). Not pictured is a pair of bike tube rubber bands around the wrist of the stock to add some grip and bright orange nail polish sight job. A pair of Ruffed Grouse and two squirrel taken with this great combo.

I love that 24c!! And the cuffs you make.....looking for one myself for quite some time. I might have found a few....1 is a 24f in 223 over 20ga synthetic (im guessing its "newer") and the other is a 24c 22LR over 20ga with the breach lever in front of trigger (any1 have any experience with those and how are they compared to the lever behind the hammer?)
