I have a pair of 22/20ga, one I just bought for my wife and the other was first gun 40 yrs ago. Looking to add a 30-30/20ga and found 2, one for sale and the other maybe. Is there any significant difference in accuracy between the raised or "ventilated rib" barrel and the standard, solid or welded barrel? Mostly I wonder about heat dissipation or the advantages of scope or other modified sights. Thanks for help from a long time reader, but new member.

I don't see any difference--the savage 24 is a single shot weapon so when people talk about bullet strikes all over the target when the barrels heat up I say your asking the wrong question about the gun--sure you want to make sure you're on target at the range but I don't shoot a lot of rounds when I'm hunting My advice is to sight it in ( using some patientence) and then take it hunting--i think it really works well if you give it a chance

I agree....there might be some advantage to "split" barrels if one doesn't shoot to the same POI as the other, but in my limited experience, that's not an issue.
I'm trying unsuccessfully to think of a scenario when you shoot so often the barrels heat up and change the POI.
Maybe a charging herd of pythons in Florida?!!!
