Howdy all.
I'm probably going to get booed out of town for this, but....
I have a 24C Series N "Camper's Companion" with an 18" cyl bore 20ga barrel under a .22LR.
The cyl bore makes less than useful patterns at any range beyond 15 yd.
So I want to install a poly-choke on it. Has anyone done this to a 24? Will it fit without getting in the way of the rifle muzzle? My plan is to have it reamed and threaded for screw-in chokes, and then use the screw-in Poly-Choke II, so that in case I ever decide to sell it, it won't have been devalued quite as badly as the solder-on polychoke.
Thanks!

leaf, who are we to "cast stones", after all, it's your gun. Personally, I wouldn't do it for the reason you already mentioned...devalue of the gun. I have a 24C also, and want it to only appreciate in value. I have not done any research on the pattern of the shotgun barrel. But, as a reloader, I know there can be a lot done with different types of ammo. I have other 24s that I can use for hunting, and you might want to consider keeping an eye out for a good deal on one at the local pawn shop. Probably not what you wanted to hear... but, I'm just trying to be honest. Maybe some others can chime in, so I won't be the only one to pee in the swimming pool!

leaf,
Yes, a Poly-choke will fit, because I have both a 24C and a 16 gauge with a Poly-Choke. The 16 ga Poly measures just a hair over "one inch" in outside diameter. When I center a one inch mark on a ruler over the 20 gauge barrel there is enough room. Thinking that a 20 gauge Poly would even be smaller. But I think I would just have the barrel threaded and go with a few screw in chokes. Who knows, after you do this, it may become more valuable to more than just a few buyers since the shotgun barrel will become a lot more hunter useful.

What savagecombo said. Look for gunsmiths specializing in trap and skeet guns. They should do a good job, and you'll be able to have a large selection of chokes, from IM to turkey.
If it were mine, I'd think about threading it for Remington or Browning chokes.....those two seem to have the widest choices in 20 gauge.

I'm still confused on this one. Are you talking about just adding a Polychoke to the end of the shotgun barrel, so it sticks out 3" past he rifle barrel? Or having the shotgun barrel cut back and mounted so both barrels are flush?
Sight and barrel band issues aside, finding someone to do the later migh proves tough. They won't be able to so any of the normal work the usual way with the rifle barrel in the way.
