With all the questions lately about the significance of the patent number engraved on some guns I thought this might be useful for those who haven't seen it. Below is a link to the patent for the firing pin selector device, or as most call it the side button barrel selector. This device was used on the Stevens Model 22-410, all of the early Savage Model 24 guns (Model 24, 24A, 24B, 24E, & 24H), and the first half of the Savage Model 24 De Luxe guns (24-DL, 24B-DL, & some 24C-DL). However the patent number only appears on the last production guns of the Stevens Model 22-410 and the first few years of the Savage Model 24. www.google.com/patents/US2259397
