Well, i found one! The folding stock! (wish i could do the na na na na thing!) www.ebay.com/itm/350818713686?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649Now to wait for the paypal thing to go through and wait what will seem like forever for the brown Christmas Truck to arrive! Currently i've got a 24f in 3030/12, dad's trigger guard release 22/20 and his 22/410, none of which will get this stock....but i do have a 22/410 that was found in relic condition that i'm working on-still need to find a peep rear sight for it though. And a forend. Might even try to find a camper..............oh, the anticipation!

Congrats Jeff. I saw that auction and considered heavily bidding on it.
My take on the mysterious folding is a bit different. The actual metal portion of the stock is very reminiscent of the 1908 model of the Marble's Game getter. It is obvious that the stock was made for Savage guns because of the scalloped inset of the stock to receiver shape, but I'm not sure that Savage made it. The Kimmel Kamper idea is the most plausible, but if that is the case then it wasn't designed for the model 24, but a Savage shotgun. I own a NIB Kimmel Kamper 2 made by Savage which has elements of the Model 24 design in it. Besides, why put a folding stock on a takedown gun? Don't get me wrong, I personnaly think it's a cool part, but definitely not an OEM part.

Odell i do not believe Savage, or Stevens, made it either. Many years ago i had one on a 19" barreled shotgun that was a 94 action, however it was marked something else-not Savage, Stevens, or even Kimel-but i do not remember what it was! I do remember that it was choked IC and marked as such, but there was bad pitting in the barrel near the muzzle (last 3-4" IIRC), and for some reason it would pattern like a full choke when fired with shells with a shot cup. Guess that barrel was like a patternmaster choke tube!
The stock did have it's flaws-the two arms were "loose" at the corners, creating a hinge type situation, where the butplate could be moved up and down some. I had also put a recoil pad on it by grinding the pad to fit, and using a hot glue gun. Of course, i saw something later that was more shiny and traded it off...........
Also, thanks for not bidding! i had set my alarm to bid in the last few minutes of the auction, which was about 0430 here! i might have done something stupid to try to win an auction when i'm that sleepy!

Yeah no kidding. It was going to be 0230 for me and I'm in no way rational at that hour.

Good catch cas.
Cable! Where have you been hiding? I thought we might have lost you. Any chance I can still get a look at that R&D gun? Send me a pm when you get a chance.

Cas where did you find that? Of course we all know that is a Savage, not an H&R. But that would be interesting to get a look at the actual gun! Wonder when it was made? i've got several Savage 94's in stages of completion that i've been thinking of doing something with-but all the barrels have lost their forend lugs! Anyone got an extra that i can silver solder on? That could be what i could use this stock on..................

It's from a set of playing cards featuring different guns. I don't remember who made them, but the model24 is in the set too.
