I wanted to put some info out for this particular firearm. My wife just picked it up (I bought it for her for Christmas). The info is as follows:
Savage 24J-DL with the gold colored trigger. Wood stock with checkering above the trigger. There is a fox on one side and a pheasant on the other. The only obvious damage is the trigger guard at the screw is broken off at the screw (but still holds on tight). The sight is the old adjustable iron sight, which is a bit flimsy but stable (paradox, I know). The hammer has both arrows on it still and the secondary hammer is tight - as is the main hammer. The breech open lever is dull silver and still full of spring. No serial number (or lengthy number pattern looking like a serial number) is present.
On the left side of the rifle, inside the receiver is stamped "1 3 V(upside down) J" The barrel has stamps as well - 1S in a circle. The barrel receiver tang (the piece that extends down from the barrel into the receiver assembly) has a stamp that looks like it is cut only half there: 3S. The barrel states "PROOF TESTED 20 GAUGE 3 INCH CHAMBER" All of these are on the left side.
On the right side of the barrel near the receiver is another half stamp: 31S in a half circle.
I'd put pics up but don't know how to imbed them here. No worries though. I wanted to put the info up on the board to get impressions. I'm not looking to sell - and the wife is in love with this machine. The price was very good for the Northern California area; I bought it from a local store on consignment.
Any comments are welcome. Thanks for having me here.
