Hello everybody! Just wanted to introduce myself and do some searching, reading and learning before I start throwing out questions. Hoping I can be of some help to everyone else too! Long time hunter, ex competitive shooter (rf), and avid outdoors-man. I live where the fish are heavier, critters are bigger, mountain are taller, and the snow is deeper. Born, raised, and wont leave until the oil runs out. A big fan of the 24. Especially the 24V (.222/20)...

Welcome....love Alaska for hunting and fishing, admire anyone who can live there year-round. You need an avatar of a Brown Bear, or some such!

Welcome AKMan, back in the early 60s I was stationed on Kodiak island, and flew all over the state, and out on the Aleutian Chain of Islands. Absolutely loved it! Still have some airplane buddies scattered around in different locations.I think one is in the Skagway area, and the other is near Anchorage. Fantastic hunting and fishing around there in the 60s. Beautiful country... and, Sarah Palin is the best looking governor I have seen!

Cheechako ... I haven't heard that that one in awhile ...
I sold things to tourists in SE for a few years (and went south for the winters, so I never quite made it to "sourdough"). I'd love to move back, but the wife is a Virginia hothouse flower.

Maybe an avatar of a Kodiak bear with a Salmon in his mouth! A friend that did leather work, did one of these for me one time years ago... looked pretty good!

akman, welcome! Curious about the 24V performance on game.I have a line on one here in Fla,wondered about using it for hogs and coyotes during small game season. Planning on getting an adapter for 22 for squirrels, etc, and using the 222 if a short shot on a hog or coyote. I know hogs are taken with 22mag but haven't done it yet.Last season,a buck was registered during youth hunt killed with a 22 hornet,222 should work,(course, maybe I just need an excuse to buy another gun) Thanks

Hi akman! I'm actually working on a Masters degree online at UAF and trying to move up there. Enjoy that God's Country up there! I am envious and so are many on this forum indeed.
