G'day all, Recently "inherited" this Model 24 (Series P - Field Grade) .22 / .410. An elderly gentleman living next door to my brother-in-law had let his licence lapse due to ill health. He didn't want to surrender his arms, only to have them destroyed by the local PD, so they were given to me. One item was a H&R model 1915 which belonged to his father, barrel stamped 410 and .44 cal. The other was the Savage 24, still greased, in the box looking unfired from 1975. I've popped on a hollow rail for using irons, and a TRS-25 red dot on top, which works really well. Need to tune the barrels a bit, to bring the .410 over and up couple of inches. There's a slight bit of movement in the front band, which might need shimming. Now trying to decide on a carry method for ammo. Cuff with loops for .410, with .22 on a belt/sling, Combo cuff with loops for .410 and .22 Custom cuff with .410 loops and a pouch for loose .22 And maybe a Skinner folding takedown case......... www.skinnersights.com/scabbards_20.htmldecisions, decisions.

Took it for a stroll today. Grabbed a mouth full of .22's and left the 410's in the shed. Found a nice cluster of bunnies, so put her to work.
No sooner had I fired the last round, when a fox casually stepped out of a shrub, not 5 yards from where I was standing, and strolled away. AAAAAAaaarrrrrrrggggh!

Ive got one of Logan from on here custom made ammo cuffs mate , And they are excellent . Holds 4 .410 shells and 4 .22RF rounds . And its outstanding in design , Build and finish .
I also have fitted a what I believe to be a .243CF(ish) Holding 4 rounds sling , Takes the .410 shells well and aint had any problems with any dropping out . Also added a small pouch to the sling , Letting me carry another 20 rounds of .22RF ammo . So , Including whats loaded in the gun , I have 9 .410 shells and up to 25 .22RF rounds by just having the gun in my hand .
Hope this helps .
All the best fellas .
Andy .

Very nice setup you've got there. I wish we had those giant rabbits I've seen pictures of like you folks down under. Germany has huge hares as well, but I wasn't able to hunt in my time there.

Cheers guys.
Hares are breeding up quite well down here, as are the bunnies. Not bad eating on either of them. And as for the big hoppers? I'm afraid the model 24 would only get me in trouble with the law.
That's why I just aquired a nice little Rem m788 in .222
