Well, got lucky in the last week or so. Friend had stopped at a local "finance" company, and told me they had a very pitiful Stevens 22/410, chopped butt stock, apparently 2x4 whittled forend, and no sights. But full length barrels and possibly all the parts internally, and a metal triggerguard. Stopped by the shop, and it was closed. So stopped by a pawn shop closer to the house, and low and behold, they had a Savage 24 in 223/20! Has the ugly painted finish wood, and a scope that is canted, but that can be fixed. Looks to have been a safe queen! Someone took the front sight off when they mounted the scope though. Still, picked it up for a cheap price.
Today i finally got to the finance company and looked at the 22/410. To say it needs work would be an understatement! Side selector, solid barrels. Finish is pretty much gone to patina and rust. No button for the selector, but appears that the selector is present. Stocks, if you can call them that, are toast. But cheap enough for a project gun! Of course i picked it up for just under 100 OTD.
Now to go through my parts bin and star looking for stuff. Let the fun begin!

good luck with the 22/410 but the 223/20 sounds like a great find. A trigger job and you have a great rifle.
