I have a savage 24-V 30-30 over 20 gauge. I have a stock bolt (approx 7/16th) for some reason appears to be rounded in the stock. The stock wiggles slightly. Needs to be tapped out? Can't figure our how that got in there when parts list shows a 1/4"X24TRI. No, not a flat tip screwdriver type bolt. How to extract?
Also the weaver type base on the gun is not grooved on the side to accept "The Perfect Rail" picatinny rail. The weaver type base appears to not be screwed into the rifle barrel. Took the 3 small screws out that don't appear to be deep enough to bite into the barrel. Tried to delicately pry on the base but, no dice. Somewhat frustrated by my inability to figure out the two obstacles to my using my favorite gun. Thanks for any help.
