Hey. I have an old Savage 24H-dl. With the. 22mag/20ga.
Yesterday when I was at the shooting range i got a little surprise. The. 22mag only missfired. When i looked close to inspect, the firepin pin was gone! Don't know if it fell out last time i used the gun, or when cleaning it. Anyway, i have ordered new pins both for the 22 mag and the 20ga. And also new scews that hold them in place. But the springs I can't find anywhere. They are out of stock at Gunpartscorp.com. My options are limited because i live in Sweden.
I read somewhere about someone using the spring from an pen, or from a Bic lighter?
How stiff should the spring be? I think that the spring should be quite soft, can't need much force to puch the pin back, right?
Next question. How high is the spring when compressed? If i make the spring to long the fireing pin won't go all the way out?
Is it the same Springs for the shootgun and the rimfire pins?
If anyone have a spring or two for sale, or know where to buy them I would be very thankful.
Thanks in advanced.

Welcome to the forum. The firing pin spring for the shotgun and the rim fire are the same. As you state they are a soft spring, 3 coils long with open ends. People have successfully made them from a pen or a Bic lighter spring. The last time I looked Brownell had them for sale, but try making them first as it will be much cheaper than buying and paying the shipping costs to Sweden. Good luck and have a great time shooting.
